I-88 Eastbound Reconstruction | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson was contracted for reconstruction of the Reagan Tollway (I-88) from Naperville Road to Finley Road (mile post 128.1 to mile post 132.2) in DuPage County, Illinois. The project consisted of total removal and replacement of three bridges including footings, piers, and abutments. It also included one bridge rehab, two tunnels wearing surface removal and replacement, twelve transition slab paving removal and replacement, three reinforced earth precast retaining walls, piling, and sheeting installation. We utilized 3 crawler cranes, 3 excavators, and 2 rubber tire loaders. This project was performed for Plote, Inc., general contractor for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority.

 

Yackley Road Bridge and Retaining Walls | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson was awarded this project for retaining wall construction and widening of the I-88 bridge over Yackley Road on the Reagan Tollway (I-88) from mile post 128.8, east of Naperville Road, to mile post 132.2, east of Finley Road. The project was performed for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority.

 

Root Street over I-90/I-94 | COMPLETED PROJECT

We were contracted by the Chicago Illinois Department of Transportation for the removal and replacement of the structure carrying Root Street over I-90/I-94 and the Chicago Transit Authority tracks in Chicago, Illinois. We also constructed new vaulted approaches, new piers and installed new structural steel. We utilized our Grove rough terrain crane, loaders, backhoe, a crane and the Bidwell deck paving machine.

 

Emerson Street over North Shore Canal | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson removed and replaced an existing bridge over the North Shore Channel in Evanston, Illinois with a new three span structure. We installed two 110' long cofferdams, two new 90' long 30' high concrete piers in the channel, and relocated a 60" MWRD line into the North Shore Channel. Our firm also provided a temporary soil retention system. We utilized a crawler crane, a hydro crane, pile equipment, a long reach backhoe and a hydraulic processor. The Illinois Department of Transportation awarded Albin Carlson this contract.

 

Central Avenue Bridge over I-55 | COMPLETED PROJECT

When the Cook County Department of Highways needed the repair of Central Avenue over the Sanitary Drainage and Ship Canal north of the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) to Pershing Road (39th Street) in Stickney, Illinois, they chose Albin Carlson to perform the work. The contract included deck patching, expansion joint removal and replacement, approach slab reconstruction and bridge deck latex overlay.

 

Lemont Road over the Des Plaines River | COMPLETED PROJECT

The Illinois Department of transportation contracted Albin Carlson to perform bridge deck latex modified concrete overlay, and deck and joint repairs to the structure carrying Lemont Road over the Des Plaines River in Lemont, Illinois. We utilized a loader, a Zimmerman mixer and a Bidwell paving machine.

 

I-88 Bridge Repairs I-88 Dixon | COMPLETED PROJECT

This contract was for repairs to multiple bridges along I-88 near Dixon, Illinois. Repairs included latex modified concrete overlay, joint replacement, structure repairs, full and partial depth patches, removal and replacement of bearings, slope wall improvements, and asphalt paving. Albin Carlson utilized both Zimmerman Mixers and a picker to perform the work. The project was awarded by the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority.

 

Illinois Route 7 over Des Plaines River | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson completed bridge deck joint repair and replacement, full and partial depth patches and latex overlay to the structure carrying Illinois Route 7 over the S&S Canal and the Des Plaines River in Lockport, Illinois. Our firm used two Zimmerman Mixers and a picker to complete the project. This project was performed for the Illinois Department of Transportation.

 

171st Street – East Hazelcrest | COMPLETED PROJECT

The Cook County Department of Highways hired Albin Carlson to remove existing roadway, construct a lower roadway and install retaining walls at 171st Street and Park Avenue in East Hazelcrest, Illinois. Work included earth excavation, construction of storm sewer and drainage structures, and construction of a detention facility and the associated pumping station. This project was performed for the Cook County Illinois Department of Highways.

 

I-64 over the Wabash River | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson was awarded a contract for emergency scour mitigation and pier protection at the I-64 bridges over the Wabash River near Grayville, Illinois. The project was completed for the Illinois Department of Transportation.

 

Yorkville Dam Phase I | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson was hired by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to reconfigure the existing dam on the Fox River in Yorkville, Illinois to a stepped structure, reducing undertow for safety purposes. To accomplish this, our firm built a causeway and dammed sections of the river during the reconstruction. We also built concrete "blocks" for sealing off work areas and provided work platforms. The completion of this project took the utilization of a crawler crane and an excavator.

 

Yorkville Dam Phase II | COMPLETED PROJECT

After the successful completion of Phase I, Albin Carlson was contracted to construct a canoe and fish bypass at the Fox River dam in Yorkville, Illinois. This project included installation of both upstream and downstream cofferdams. We removed a section of the existing dam, and installed grouted riprap and boulders. A new perimeter sidewalk was installed, as well as cast-in-place weirblock and a divider island of cast-in-place concrete (about 4,000 cubic yards). Our firm also removed a significant amount of contaminated soil. A crawler crane, a hydro crane and two articulating dump trucks were used to construct this bypass for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

 

Continental Toyota | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson was awarded this project to construct a reinforced earth retaining wall reaching a height of 30' and install a storm trap retention system. Dietzler Construction Corp. performed excavation and grading of the site as a subcontractor. Our firm utilized a backhoe, a loader and a crawler crane to perform the work for the Village of Hodgkins on the site for Continental Toyota in Hodgkins, Illinois.

 

I-55 Noisewalls | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson will be furnishing and erecting noise abatement walls along I-55 from U.S. Route 30 (Plainfield Road) to Weber Road in Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Romeoville, and Joliet, Illinois. The furnish and install will include 2.52 miles of ground and structure mounted noise barrier. Albin Carlson was awarded the project by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

 

CSX Third Mainline | COMPLETED PROJECT

When CSX Transportation, Inc. needed a third mainline track on their McCook Division between the 123rd Street Milepost and the Calumet Sag Bridge in Blue Island, Illinois, they awarded the project to Albin Carlson. Construction will include grading, roadway, bridge and track work for construction of a third mainline track. It includes all site grading, signal pads, installation of drainage facilities, construction of access roadways, installation of pre-ballast pads and pipe jacking under active railroad tracks, and construction of one number 10 timber turnout. Also included is the construction of 6,700 track feet of timber tie track and an 111 foot long bridge to carry the new third line main track over 127th Street, as well as all roadway modification due to the new railroad bridge.

 

I-355 Butterfield Road to I-55 Bridge Rehabilitation | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson was recently contracted for the rehabilitation of 14 bridge structures and one noisewall. The bridge rehabilitation consists of full and partial depth patches, bridge joint repairs and latex modified concrete overlay. The project is on Veterans Memorial Highway (I-355) between Mile Post 12.3 (I-55) to Mile Post 21.8 (South of Butterfield Road) in DuPage County, Illinois. Work is being performed for K-Five Construction Corporation, the general contractor for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority.

 

I-290 Church to Butterfield Resurfacing and Bridge Repair | COMPLETED PROJECT

Albin Carlson is currently resurfacing and repairing bridges on the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) for the Illinois Department of Transportation. Improvements will include pavement patching, hot-mix asphalt resurfacing, bridge superstructure and substructure repairs, bridge deck and joint repairs, bridge deck latex modified concrete overlays, and noise abatement wall repairs. Work will take place in the Villages of Hillside and Berkeley and the cities of Elmhurst and Northlake, Illinois.
